How it all began

In November 1997, Waltham Forest CBHA was accepted as a registered social landlord (RSL). We became a landlord in January 1998, two years earlier than planned, following the decision to proceed with the temporary transfer of new homes from the HAT.

Residents endorsed our approach in 2001 when 97 per cent of the HAT's tenants voted to stay with us, rather than return to the local authority.

With plans to achieve growth both within Waltham Forest and surrounding boroughs, we became CBHA in July 2004.

We are proud to say that the CBHA way of working - residents, staff and external partners in collaboration - has proven to be an excellent platform to deliver programmes that renew neighbourhoods and improve lives.

Our work is having a lasting impression on communities in Waltham Forest and we believe it serves as a model for an effective approach to renewing neighbourhoods throughout the country.
