The title of Best Social Housing Provider in Walthamstow has been presented to CBHA, as voted for by Walthamstow residents themselves!

These awards form part of a resident led campaign seeking to promote the provision of affordable and quality housing for all in Walthamstow.

The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 31st January at Walthamstow Central Library. It  recognised both the best and worst of social housing providers, letting agencies and estate agents in the community based upon personal experiences of our local housing market.

The Walthamstow Housing Awards were created by local campaigners working with MP Stella Creasy, following concerns raised by residents in a series of workshops held over the summer. These workshops looked at the causes of rising rents and house prices and what could be done locally to address these concerns. By highlighting good practice and areas of improvement the awards seek to improve the provision of housing for all in Walthamstow.

Residents have been nominating social housing providers, letting agents and estate agents since August 2014 from which the shortlist was made. Walthamstow residents have been voting for the shortlisted providers since December 2014.  CBHA is therefore really pleased to have been awarded this honour through the independent nominations and support of its residents and neighbours.

Jude Leighton, Chief Executive of CBHA, stated “we would like to thank all who took the time to vote for CBHA both in the nomination and shortlist stage. CBHA is committed to providing locally based resident led services and we are proud to have this recognised by the residents of Walthamstow.”
