International Women's Day seminar- Working Together to End Domestic Abuse
As domestic violence homicide and serious case reviews continue to show, we still need to improve our response to families affected by domestic abuse. Even when victims do come forward, many professionals don’t have the confidence or knowledge our local structures to give them the appropriate support they need.
To recognise International Women Day, Waltham Forest Council is working in partnership with CBHA to deliver a seminar that brings together: housing, health, social care, substance misuse and service providers from the statutory and voluntary sector.
The event is an opportunity for delegates to hear from the Council, Waltham Forest Police and other key note speakers of our co-ordinated community response model to tackle gender-based violence and the emerging impact on our diverse communities.
When? Friday 6th March 2015, 10:00 - 16:30
Where? The Paradox Centre, 3 Ching Way, Chingford, E4 8YD
Price: This is a free event
The event will consist of key note speakers, workshops, information stalls and an opportunity to network.
Key note speakers include:
- Cllr Karen Bellamy, Lead Councillor of Domestic Abuse
- A/Supt Jacqueline Sabire, Borough Commander
- Gudrun Burnet, Peabody Trust
