The Royal Mail is recruiting hundreds of people in Waltham Forest to cover the extra workload as Christmas approaches – and has handed 300 of those vacancies to CBHA to help fill.
Tanya Gomez, of CBHA’s economic development department, said: “There is a 60% chance that those doing the seasonal work will be taken on permanently as postmen and women so it really is a fantastic opportunity.”
So far 80 people have been referred to CBHA by Job Centre Plus and 64 of those have applied and are waiting to hear about the postal work. They have also been helped to apply for further jobs.
“When people come to us looking for support into work, we can register them on one of our programmes. We offer help with applications forms, give general information, advice and guidance and tips on interview technique.
"Our team are regularly searching for vacancies and we will help job seekers find work suitable to them.”
Any parents with young children needing employment and training advice can be assured there is room for pushchairs and toys and space available for their child to play while they focus on their job hunt.
The service is available at CBHA’s Digital Learning Centre, Saxon Close, Boundary Road, E17 8LE.
