CBHA support families with problems

08 December 2011

A new Family Partnership Project aims to help families facing difficulties. Residents could benefit from this if they have difficult teenagers they are struggling to manage or are affected by gang problems.

CBHA decided to put the project together because of the many related services it already offers such as mediation, money advice, youth services and employment and training support.

Head of tenancy support Michala Jervis said: “There is such a good relationship between our staff and residents and we already know about a lot of the problems our families are facing. Through the Family Partnership Project, we want to help families make the right decisions about what they want to do.

“There are families whose teenagers get into trouble, maybe they are involved in gangs or at risk of becoming involved. We offer options to steer them away from this. It would mean a familiar face from CBHA calling, rather than a stranger.”

CBHA is working closely with the borough, the council youth services, schools and other agencies on the project.
