Drug & alcohol team move in to CBHA offices

08 December 2011

Two people from the drug and alcohol team are now working directly from CBHA’s Chingford and Leytonstone offices. One of them is there at least once a week but will come when needed.

Head of support services Michala Jervis said: “This is absolutely fantastic because it means we can help residents access the support they need, right on their doorstep.”

The team, funded by LBWF and the NHS, do one-to-one sessions, run tests and give intensive counselling and support. Since February CBHA has referred a number of cases to them. Residents can also make self referrals.

“The people are proud that they are attending their interviews and sticking to the programme,” said Michala.

CBHA would refer others to the advisers if they were at risk of losing their home or of causing serious anti-social behaviour because of their addiction. Referring residents to the team is a last resort before the eviction process begins. It is vital that they keep their appointments.

If you know someone or if you could who could benefit from this service, please call the tenancy support team in confidence.
