A new Family intervention programme will soon be available to CBHA residents to help resolve problems with family relationships.
Two CBHA members of staff are now fully trained in family mediation and can help with a wide range of issues. CBHA is also setting up partnerships with other agencies such as drug and rehabilitation services which can offer specialist support where needed. Residents experiencing a wide range of issues can therefore receive help. These could include:
• children and young people getting involved in gangs
• abusive relationships between children and parents
• drug/alcohol misuse within the family home
• breakdown of communication and/or relationships at home
• persistent ASB offenders
• vulnerable parents and/or children
• families already receiving support from social services
Anti-social behaviour officer Matthew Coates and tenancy support officer Gary Brown have also been trained in safeguarding vulnerable people and work in conjunction with a vast array of local services within the borough, including social services and the safer neighbourhoods team.
Head of support services Michala Jervis said: “Many of our residents have been asking us what they can do when they find themselves in certain situations. They often come to CBHA for help. We are offering this extra support in response to this.”
She added: “When we work in partnership with other agencies, it means the residents receive a more rounded service and can we can jointly meet more of their needs. So I am really pleased that a drug and alcohol team will soon be based in our CBHA offices.”
