With a recent rebrand and new website, Streetlife Radio www.streetliferadio,com (formerly Streetlife FM) is hosting a celebration in the heart of the community!
Streetlife has successfully made the transition from a community project started in 2004 to a community radio station and business, serving the borough of Waltham Forest and surrounding areas. To celebrate, the team have planned an outdoor event for the whole community to attend on Saturday 17th September 2011 in Walthamstow Central.
The day will kick off at 11am and will run until 7pm, during which we will be broadcasting live so that the whole community can see what we do and how we do it. The event will be interactive giving members of the community an opportunity to meet the team, find out about forthcoming radio broadcasting courses, events, activities and various ways they get involved with their community station in the run up to the Olympic games and beyond.
A number of acts, artistes and dignitaries have been confirmed for interviews and performances. Local artist Mizz Camara will join other up and coming performers including Genesis, J Soul, Oranje 2000 to name but a few. There will be a fashion show by local designers with entertainment for the kids too – a bouncy castle, Xbox/Wii gaming area and competition give-aways. Small local businesses have also been invited to showcase their products or services on a number of stalls.
We hope that this will be a great day out for the whole community, an opportunity for everyone to get together and have fun. A chance to unite in preparation for what we hope to be an exciting forthcoming 12 months with Waltham Forest being one of the host boroughs for the once in the lifetime world event of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Come and join us! We look forward to seeing you there!
Throughout the month of September 2011, Streetlife Radio will be broadcasting continuously on 87.8FM in addition to online at www.streetliferadio.com.
