Summer fun..

16 July 2010

There’s so much in the summer programme

Young and bored over the long, hot summer? Impossible with this year’s amazing range of fun activities organised by CBHA!

Youths in all four areas will have plenty to keep them entertained, whether they are into sports, crafts, cooking and eating or even serious discussion and debates. Of course, the usual chill out zones will be also open where they can meet up with mates.

Some of the activities and events on the calendar are:
Big lunch Eden project: Residents of all ages get together and enjoy healthy eating.

Munch brunch: Young people attending workshops or accessing employment and training support get to have brunch for 50p at the Paradox, Chingford.

Workshops: including careers advice, healthy eating and sexual health.

Community kitchen: youths at the youth club on a Friday evening can enjoy a meal or snack, prepared by older residents from the community.

Pukka Tukka: teenage girls learn about preparing healthy meals. (The boys have had a turn!)

Sports: let off steam with some physical action in various Activate projects. These include karate, boxercise and football.
Panna football: on the fun inflatable ground with Kickz and Spurs FC.
Y4Y discussion workshop: talk about issues important to young people today

Tournaments on the Wii.

Pool tournaments.

Mirror Image: discussion group for teenage girls, aiming to boost self-esteem. The girls will also have a night at the theatre seeing Do You Know Where Your Daughter Is? by Angela Marr.

Employment and training advice drop in: get help and support in a relaxed, informal drop-in session

Chill out zones: hang out with mates.

Film on: capture scenes from your estate, create your own lyrics, grab some studio time and record it.

Graphic design: be creative and technical. Create something super cool on the PC and improve your design skills. Design your own T-shirt.

Arts and crafts: the chance to get crafty.

And, in case that was not enough, young people can also register for a £5 voucher for the cinema or a restaurant. Anyone that has participated in three activities from the summer programme during the week can pick up a voucher on the Friday evening.
In addition to all this, there is also the Leytonstone Youth Fest on July 17.
