Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Alongside your rights as a tenant, you have a number of responsibilities designed to ensure that we can carry out our duties and that you and your neighbours live safely and free from harassment and unacceptable behaviour. Failure to meet them is a breach of your tenancy agreement.

Rent
You must pay your rent. There are a number of ways you can do this. If you have any worries about arrears contact CBHA.

Housing benefit
All CBHA rents are eligible for Housing Benefit but you are responsible for making the claim and for informing the Housing Benefit office of any changes in your circumstances, such as your rent.

Repairs
You are responsible for some repairs inside your home and for keeping your property in good order.

Health and safety

  • You must not store bottled gas, paraffin, petrol or any other toxic or dangerous materials in your home, garage, store or in any shared areas such as balconies
  • You must not leave syringes where other residents might come into contact with them
  • You must put all your rubbish in plastic sacks and dispose of it properly, for example in bins or rubbish chutes

Unacceptable behaviour
You are responsible for the behaviour of anybody - including children - living with you or visiting your home. You must ensure that neither you, your household nor your visitors carry out anti-social behaviour of any kind, including hate crime, harassment and domestic violence.
